SML’s Hope Ltd provides supported living services for adults with learning disabilities and autistic individuals, including those with mental health conditions. We believe people with Learning disabilities, autism, and mental health have the right to the same opportunities as anyone else to live satisfying and valued lives and, to be treated with the same dignity and respect. We also support people with enduring Mental Health problems to reintegrate and recover in the community by enabling them to live as independently as they can with the support of staff within the organisation. Our aim is to ensure they live within their community, be able to develop and maintain relationships, and get the support they need to live a healthy, safe, and fulfilling life.

Our values and strengths are based on four key principles. The principles explain the attributes of that value and are purposefully designed to have relevance to both the people we support and our employees.
Quality of life – We ensure that the people we support are treated with dignity and respect. Care and support are personalised, enabling the person to achieve their hopes, goals, and aspirations; We work with individuals to maximise their quality of life regardless of the nature of their diagnosis and presentation. Promote a culture of enablement and integration into mainstream activities wherever possible.
• Keeping people safe –SML’s Hope supports people to take positive risks whilst ensuring that they are protected from potential harm, remembering that abuse and neglect can take place in a range of different environments and settings. We ensure a culture of transparent and open reporting, ensuring lessons are learned and acted upon. We respond to the diverse and changing needs and outcomes of Service Users. We have well-trained and motivated Staff who can communicate effectively; and are trained to treat Service Users with dignity and respect.
• Choice and control – We ensure that people have choice and control over their own health and care services and are supported to make decisions about every aspect of their lives as we believe and do acknowledge that individuals, their families, and carers are experts in their own lives and are able to make informed decisions about the support they receive. Any decisions about care and support will be in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Equitable outcomes We ensure that people we support have access to mainstream services, which are expected to be available to all individuals, to support people with a learning disability and/or autism, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.

Nature of support
SML’S Hope focuses on supporting people to:
-live in their own homes within the community.
We aim to support people to remain in their homes, in familiar surroundings and where they have maximum choice and control and autonomy. This will help to
Minimise dependency and to maximise self-reliance;
-Make best use of the total amount of resource available to meet the needs in the community;
-Support people to meet their desired outcomes; and
-Minimise the cost to the Service User.
-Supported living
We will provide support wherever you chose to live, be it independent living, e.g your own flat, shared living where you might be living or sharing space with other people, apartment living where you might be sharing communal space with others or stepping-stone accommodation while waiting for a permanent placement.
-Day opportunities
We provide support for people to get out of the house to access meaningful activities or health appointments during the day. This would enable integration into the community and help with developing new skills and education or employment opportunities.
